Quick Tips For Fishing Beginners

If you're looking for another way to spend time outside, give fishing a try. We love being out on the water, with the thrill of catching a big one, to bring home for a home-cooked dinner. Fishing is for everyone and here's some beginner tips for how to get started!

1. LEARN HOW TO CAST

Improving your cast is key to fishing success. If you're new to fishing and looking to increase your odds of reeling in some great catches, perfecting your cast could be the breakthrough you need.

2. CONFIDENCE IS KEY

My best tip for beginners is in regards to confidence. You should always have 100% confidence in what you're throwing. Confidence is key to helping someone successfully fishing a new bait. Always think, this next cast I am going to catch is going to be the biggest one yet!

3. USE A KAYAK

For new fishermen that want to get out on the water but don't have a boat, try kayak fishing. Kayaks are affordable, light weight, and easy to transport. They also allow you to get in those spots not accessible by foot or power boats that often hold some of the biggest, un-pressured fish!

4. BAIT MATTERS

Your bait should be, or at least mimic what the fish are eating. Use baits and lures that look like and are the same size as the naturally found forage in the body of water you are fishing. Pro tip: Live bait always works best!

5. ALWAYS WEAR SOMETHING LUCKY

We might be biased on this one, but we think that sporting one of our hats or pins is sure to bring you good luck! Check out our items to see which one will best match your style and have you at least looking good and feeling good, even if you don't catch a 5 pounder!
